About the Instructor Seán Duggan is a photographer and digital artist who combines a traditional fine art
photographic background with extensive real world experience in the field of digital imaging. He is a co-author of Real World Digital Photography (Peachpit Press, 2003), and Photoshop CS
Artistry, Mastering the Digital Image (New Riders, 2004), and he is the series editor for the upcoming Photoshop Dream Team Book, Vol. 1 (due out in Summer 2004).
Seán is an Adobe
Certified Photoshop Expert and a member of the Photoshop beta testing group. His Photoshop tutorial column can be seen regularly in MacDesign magazine and he writes on Photoshop and digital imaging
topics for Outdoor Photographer and Digital Photo Pro magazines.
Duggan teaches digital imaging for photographers at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco, the University of
California Santa Cruz Extension, Palm Beach Photographic Workshops and the Lepp Institute of Digital Imaging. Seán provides Photoshop and imaging consulting services for photographers and companies. He

About the Course This class is an introduction to the world of digital imaging and Adobe Photoshop CS from a
photographer's point of view. Sean will cover the essential foundation concepts and terminology so you can navigate more surely in this exciting area of image creation and enhancement. Students will be
guided through the most important tools and features for editing of photographic images. We will cover the basics of working with digital images, including capturing and evaluating a scan, working with
digital camera images, understanding the digital tonal range, performing overall and localized color correction, retouching a damaged photo, portrait retouching, creating image composites, and
cropping and resizing images for different types of printed output. Topics will include: * Interface, Palettes, Tools, Preferences * Resolution and Image Size Essentials
* Working with Digital Camera Images * Creating and Saving Selections * Color and Tonal Correction * Clone Stamp and Healing Brush * "Hand Tinting" techniques
* Essential Filters: Unsharp Mask, Gaussian Blur and more * Editing Workflow * Intro to Color Management

computer, monitor and latest version of Photoshop software.
