"The ones (listed above) you gave me info on were filled. I did end up camping, but at a public camp ground - Anthony Chabot campground...part of the East Bay Regional Parks. Phone 510/635-0135. This was a good campground with shower facilities and a wide range of camp options from full hookup to hike in camping. We felt safe and were able to leave our trailer without fear of it being broken into. The only drawback is that this park has a gate that closes at 10:00 PM. (You can get in after 10:00 only by calling the police and having them drive out and unlock it...not a good idea -we know this from experience). I guess there is one other drawback... the drive. It is about a 15 mile drive but takes about 40 minutes."
