About Jeff Locklear
Jeff Locklear has been involved with some aspect of the photographic industry since 1977, starting with basic portraiture and scenic landscapes. Taking a detour from his beginnings, Jeff served as plant manager for a commercial color lab in the Kansas City area for four years. In 1984, he opened a portrait studio, specializing in wedding photography. Since joining the PPA in 1989, Jeff has received numerous local and state awards for his portrait and wedding photography. His accolades include six Kodak Gallery Awards, six Fuji Masterpiece Awards, five Loan Collection Prints, and three Loan Collection wedding albums. He was also named Kansas Photographer of the Year in 1992,1994 and 1998. Jeff has also been in the Kansas Top Ten Photographers ten years in a row. In 1994, he won first place in the prestigious Brides Choice wedding album competition.

Jeff is active in various photographic organizations and is a Past President of the Professional Photographers of Greater Kansas City.

About The Course
Weddings - it's the first type of photography so many of us start out with and after a few years of shooting weddings it's the first thing we try to get out of. So why should you still shoot weddings? I feel that a good wedding photographer can handle any shooting situation he or she is confronted with. Simply stated wedding photography will make you a better photographer. We will discuss shooting styles and how they have changed over the years. The use of different light sources and how to control your lighting will be covered in detail. We will look at different ways to photograph a wedding instead of just standing at the altar for all the photographs.

What has digital done to the marketplace?
It has changed everything!

For those that are just starting their photographic careers film doesn't enter into the equation. For the rest of us leaving the friendly confines of film is a frightening thought. With digital capture we have total control of the final product we choose to deliver to our clients. Along with that control comes the responsibility for the quality of our photographic images.

Digital capture introduces us to a whole new set of rules and tools that we must learn and master if we want to separate ourselves from the crowded field of wedding photography. One of the most disturbing effects of digital is with so much to learn about the process of digital good photographic skills are taking a back seat to technology.

If you're interested in making the move from film to digital capture it's not as difficult as you might think. For those of you that are savvy to all this technology and are in need of improving your photographic skills we will cover the art of photography as well as the digital technology of photography.
